Hola! It is Ella and Josh reporting from the church steps.
Today we started off later than normal and enjoyed an amazing meal made by Pati that consisted of eggs with spinach and orange juice. After breakfast we all hopped into the van and headed to the incredible Peguche waterfall. After leaving the waterfall, we hiked about thirty minutes to a beautiful lake, where a number of locals were gathered enjoying the relaxed Sunday morning. Along the way, our host dad Rumi told us about multiple different sacred places in the indigenous tradition.
Then, we settled down for a lovely lunch during which many of us fished for our own food. On our way back from lunch we drove by many different beautiful views and settled down back at our host families house where we hung out and played cards.
Our highlight of the excursion was being able to experience nature here through hiking. We have both enjoyed interacting with the kids that we have come across throughout our trip. Today, once we got to a lake there were a few children who were eager to learn and speak to us in English.
