The Beautiful Laguna de Cuicocha

The following post features student writing.

Good afternoon, blog readers! It’s Josh and Jonathan.

After four days of work and labor, we woke up a little later than usual, getting out of bed at around 7:15. We then enjoyed a delicious breakfast made by Patti, our host mother. We then headed to the Cotacachi Mountains, where we embarked on the famous Laguna Cuicocha hike. We learned about its famous history and took in the amazing views throughout the 15-kilometer journey. A couple hours into the hike we stopped at a gazebo high into the mountains where we enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch. As we neared the end we all had a feeling of accomplishment and made our way down. Then we were all tired so we took a shuttle back to our host village and had a couple hours to spare. Finally, just before dinner, we worked with our host mom Patti to make the dough for homemade bread.  We eagerly await the results.
