During her studies at the University of Vermont, Erin took her first trip abroad to Ecuador where her passion for travel was born. After graduation, she moved to Argentina and has continued to live in and travel to countries around the world ever since, understanding that the world is her home. What she enjoys most about the experience of life is connection, to nature and to people. Erin has studied mindfulness in France, New Zealand, and Australia and implements the practice into her life and leadership philosophy. This fall Erin will continue leading semester programs or teach English in Central or South America. She has led a service trip to Costa Rica, language immersion trips to Spain, and Putney’s Community Service Ecuador & the Galápagos and Community Service Fiji programs.
SAM PEARL SCHWARTZ
Tufts University, B.A., History, Minor in Entrepreneurial Business
While at Tufts, Sam focused on the study of modern Latin American history and early modern East Asian history. For the past two summers, he has led wilderness backpacking trips in New Hampshire for incoming first-year students, easing their transition to Tufts and providing them with a support network. In addition, last year Sam spent seven months in South America as part of a semester abroad in Valparaíso, Chile. Along with taking classes at a Chilean university, Sam volunteered at a community mental health center, working to integrate people with mental illness into the Valparaíso community. During this time, Sam also backpacked around Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Colombia, exploring incredible places such as Machu Picchu, Patagonia, Easter Island, and Medellín. He speaks Spanish and is learning Japanese.
